Forgiving Ourselves

One day I was doing some ironing and had a teaching tape on. At the same time as listening, I was also praying, saying 'sorry' to Jesus for not being a good parent and for not being there when Joanna drowned in the pool. At that moment the voice from the tape said, 'If you keep saying "sorry" to Jesus and do not receive forgiveness, it's like saying that what Jesus did for you on the cross was not enough to forgive your sins.'
This was amazing to me. I certainly didn't want to do that! I started again to say, 'Sorry, Jesus,' and then started to laugh as I saw that I was doing it again! Jesus did forgive me. What I was not doing was forgiving myself. I realised that I had to forgive myself and give my guilt to Jesus... what a relief I felt!
