Consistency,Compulsion,Commitment
Keep your edge sharp as a disciple of Jesus...in the word and in the Spirit.
Consistency:
Consistently preach what God has asked, without hesistation, take every opportunity to preach the gospel of God's grace. To all places to all people.
Compulsion:
Acts is about disciples being compelled by the Spirit. This is not just being led, this is about being compelled to go.Paul is compelled by the Spirit to go to ..and a warning is given to him that he will face difficulty, yet he is still compelled to go.
The Spirit speaks and this is not unusual for Paul...this is prophecy. Is that the same for us?Do we ask for it and desire it?listen and speak out the Spirit's message.
Some are called to be prophets...not exclusive, but some are called on a more regular basis to be prophets.Acts 21 tells us about one of these trusted prophets. We need to affirm these roles in the church and exercise accountabilty and authorisation using the gift of discernment.
Being a Prophet can be a difficult job at times...how is your message received?
Commitment:
Paul says - May I finish and complete...now I commit you to God's grace.
Winston Churchill said "may I never give in"
Never give in-give out!
V.19-with hunilty, v.35-work hard. -give rather than take.
V.35-an extra "blessed" in addition to the sermon on the mount...Jesus spoke more words than those recorded in the canon.
