Praying for Children - Our Future

I remember seeing the shoe boxes wrapped in colourful paper piled up high. At my school we took part in Operation Christmas Child (OCC) - an initiative run by Samaritan's Purse in which presents are given to needy children in 105 countries. I remember buying crayons, colouring books and little teddies and imagining young faces lighting up as the box opened. It's such a simple way of showing God's love to those who might otherwise never open a parcel; perhaps I'll join in again this year!
Recently I heard someone say 'our children are the head, not the tail.' Samaritan's Purse is joining in the UK's National Day of Prayer (NDOP) on 29th September, leading prayers for vulnerable children around the world - especially victims of poverty, trafficking and disease. They will also celebrate the '94 million acts of compassion' that have been made through OCC over the years.
