Mandela's Birthday Celebrated

As Nelson Mandela turns 94 today, around 12 million school children around South Africa simultaneously sung 'Happy Birthday' at 8am this morning.
July 18th has been marked as International Nelson Mandela Day, when people are encouraged to spend 67 minutes helping others. The reason behind the number is that Mandela gave 67 years to public service.
Although he has never spoken very publicly about his faith, Mandela calls himself a Christian and has said his faith sustained him through imprisonment and struggle. In his 1994 speech at a church conference he led a prayer affirming his belief that 'all people' of whatever race 'black or white ... brown or yellow ... rich or poor ... are created in the image of the Creator ...' (Moria, 3rd April 1994).
