'Infanticide same as Abortion'From hot topic Christian Ethics.

Two medical ethicists have claimed that newborn babies do not have the right to life because they don’t yet have the status of moral persons. They declare that infanticide should be an option just as abortion is.
The ethicists, Giubilini and Minerva, derive their definition of a ‘person’ from modern philosophers including Peter Singer, who in 1983 wrote 'We can no longer base our ethics on the idea that human beings are a special form of creation, made in the image of God...’ (American Journal Paediatics).
The conclusions made by Giubilini and Minerva have caused huge controversy, prompting debate about what makes a human being significant. Peter Saunders writes from a Christian point of view, stating that human beings have value because of ‘extrinsic’ not ‘intrinsic’ reasons: Human beings are made in the image of God, and God himself became a man, bestowing unique dignity on the human race.
Saunders agrees that infanticide is morally equivalent to abortion. Yet he says that leaves us two choices: Embrace infanticide or stop doing abortions.
