Christian in Pakistan Accused of Defaming Islam

Masih, a Christian girl of 14, has been accused of burning the Koran in Pakistan. Currently released on bail, witnesses claimed she was framed when a cleric planted torn pages of the Koran alongside burnt paper in her bag.
The case has caused international outcry, with over a million signing a petition for Masih's release. Last week she was granted bail, yet this is extremely dangerous in Pakistan because even the allegation of causing offence to Islam is viewed by some as punishable by death. Presently she is staying in a secret location.
Last year, local governor Salman Taseer was shot dead by his bodyguard after proposing that the law be changed. He was defending Asia Bibi, a Christian woman who is currently on death row.
Open Doors say that 'death threats' are routine for Christian leaders; for a one page summary of Christian persecution in Pakistan, click here.
