Bishop calls for reform of Social Care System

The Rev'd James Newcome, Bishop of Carlisle, has given his support to a petition which is being run by the charity Age UK. The petition is asking the government to reform the care systems in place for those who are old and infirm.
The charity believes that years of underfunding by the government of the social care system has left it in a crisis, despite the charities own best efforts working with those who represent the older generations of our society. +James states that there are nearly 800,000 people in the UK who are unable to get any formal support for care, highlighting that the budget for social care has been cut by 4.5% in the last year.
