Alan Nute

24.07.21 - 06.01.11 Alan was primarily a Bible teacher and he taught in churches all over the UK as well as in some trips abroad (Australia, Canada, Hong Kong). He was also a regular speaker at the Keswick Convention and the Oxford and Swanwick Conferences as well as many university CUs. Living in Bristol for many years Alan devoted much of his time to preaching in local churches and conferences such as the Southern Counties convention (now Weston Bible Week) at which many of these talks were given. His teaching relied on prayerful dependence on God and disciplined and systematic Bible study. As Rob Scott Cook said at his memorial service, Alan’s preaching was not just about giving information but he ‘opened up the scriptures’. The way he lived was as much a challenge to discipleship of Jesus as what he taught. In Alan there was true integrity. Alan was born and grew up in Cardiff. After a few years in secular employment, followed by a period of work at the Muller Homes for Children in Bristol, Alan felt the call to an itinerant ministry among the churches and ‘stepped out in faith’. His years of ministry were without salary and so proved that the Lord still meets His servants’ needs in answer to the prayer of faith. Alan went to be with his Lord in 2011 but his exposition of the Word of God is still as rich and applicable to life as ever it was.
