Ten Easy Ways To PrayFrom series Ten Easy Ways To... .

1. Pray on the armour of God as you get dressed in the morning (Eph 6:10-17).
2. Use the Psalms and scripture to inspire your prayers: For example, pray that God would strengthen those you love 'with power through His Spirit in (their) inner being' (Eph 3:16).
3. Start a thankfulness journal to write down things you’re grateful for.
4. Use ‘breath’ prayers: Sit comfortably and deepen your breathing. As you inhale, say the first half of a bible verse, and as you exhale, the second half. For example: ‘The Lord is my Shepherd … I shall not want.’ (Psalm 23:1).
5. Draw your prayers using a huge sheet of paper and some coloured pens.
6. Try praying the Lord’s Prayer, perhaps at daily at midday (Matthew 6:9-13)
7. Use everyday actions as prompts for prayer: For example, when using your keys to unlock doors pray for those needing freedom; when making a cup of tea for someone pray blessing on them.
8. Make a ‘prayer timetable’ so that you are able to intercede in depth for different situations or people each day of the working week.
9. Ask God if there is anything you need to request His forgiveness for: know that when we confess our sins ‘He is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness’ (1 John 1:9).
10. Go for a prayer walk around your community: You could use this blessing acronym to bless your neighbours~
The act of prayer can help us trust in the ultimate goodness of God:
‘By bringing us into the presence of God, and giving us a glimpse of the view from above, prayer radically changes how we experience life. Faith during affliction matters more than healing from affliction. Submitting to God’s will is preferable to a rescue from crucifixion… In the advanced school of prayer, where one loves God with the entire soul, doubts and struggles do not disappear, but their effect on us diminishes… I learn to trust the ultimate goodness of God, who can transmute whatever happens into a ‘good gift.’
(PRAYER by Philip Yancey, p.316).
