Sermon: Stress

Have a listen to this sermon on Stress. It's one of the best sermons I've heard on this subject for a long time.
With the compassion that comes from obvious personal experience, the speaker talks about the problem of stress and anxiety and shows how the prescription offered by Jesus to treat our pain, differs radically from that offered by the world.
Self help is not enough
He says that although there's some very good advice and self help offered by mainstream counsellors and therapists, these are based on a worldview that doesn't have Jesus at it's centre.
The speaker shows how Jesus challenges our basic assumption about life: our right to pursue wealth and live comfortably and do what is best for ourselves.
God's Kingdom
In God's Kingdom we are called to do the opposite, he says. To die to what we think is best for ourselves, and give up our agendas and ambitions and goals for a higher goal, that of pursuing Jesus.
The speaker makes an impassioned plea for us to do this, and shows through clear steps how Jesus calls us to take the focus off ourselves and trying to fix ourselves, and transfer it to trust in the all powerful, sovereign God who loves us deeply and is able to supply all our needs.
Pursue Jesus
Leave it all behind, says the speaker. Run after Jesus and pursue him with all you've got. And you will find that all you really need is Him.
Essential listening. Highly recommended! (Click on this link to the sermon.)
